Ramadan

It is a cultural practice during the month of Ramadan for us to invite friends and colleagues to SCDF to share a hearty meal in the evenings. The month of Ramadan is a season of giving, much like Christmas or Thanksgiving. It is a cultural tradition for Turkish people to share food, friendship and good cheer with their neighbors throughout Ramadan. We acknowledge our friends’ and colleagues’ continued support of our programs and mission through sharing these complimentary Turkish meals with the community.

Kurban Bayrami “Festival of Sacrifice”

“Festival of Sacrifice” is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God (Allah),before God (Allah) intervened to provide him with a sheep— to sacrifice instead. We invite all of our Turkish friends as well as American friends to get together with this wonderful and restful festival.
